IT Operations Manager

 

Position overview:

The IT Operations Manager role is responsible for ensuring stable and reliable operations of Insulet Corporation server and desktop infrastructure. This includes the maintaining, supporting, and optimizing of key functional areas particularly server infrastructure, virtual infrastructure, and operating systems.  This position requires very strong technical, organizational, leadership and customer service skills in order to be successful.

 

JOB / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (Listed in order of importance)

  • Manages team resources for daily infrastructure operations/maintenance and
    service requests.
  • Ensures operational changes and maintenance occur according to change control procedures and are validated.
  • Works with Director, Information Technology to establish service level agreements and procedures.
  • Performs trending analysis and metrics reporting to ensure compliance with
    client service level agreements, identify operational improvements, staff
    development plans, and future staffing skill set needs. 
  • Identify operational deficiencies and continually determine ways to “work
    smarter, not harder”.
  • Provide technical and business leadership direction for team and act as an
    escalation point for any technical service related issues.
  • Work with Network Engineer when applicable to maintain system continuity and availability.
  • Responsible for the development, performance reviews and mentoring of team.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge / Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related engineering
    field.
  •  5+ years’ experience managing technical teams in a 7x24 technical service desk
    capacity.
  • Strong technical knowledge and significant experience of Microsoft windows
    environments (through Server 2008), data networking infrastructures, security methodologies, and system support.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere Virtualization a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic, ability to motivate and direct staff members.
  • Strong customer service orientation and team building focus and must be able to establish effective business relationships throughout the organization.
  • Clearly communicate technical issues/resolutions to clients and management in a
    business friendly language

Job Experience

  • Microsoft Windows Server (2003,2008), Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007 Experience a plus.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure and end users. Understand demands of business and critical nature of system availability.
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning experience preferred.
  • Can demonstrate working knowledge and expertise and develop team members through mentoring.
  • Server/desktop configuration and patch management.
  • Must be accustomed to effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a
    high-pressure environment.
  • Experience in a medical device, FDA regulated industry preferable.
  • Able to work independently on multiple projects with different business units in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines
