Position overview:
Performs engineering work related to researching, designing, and developing manufacturing methods. Examines equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggests improvements. Lead efforts to implement changes/improvements. Evaluates vendor proposals for new equipment purchases. Lead projects associated with new equipment implementation.
JOB / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Manufacturing Operations as required.
- Procurement, implementation and support of complex automated manufacturing equipment.
- Project responsibility will cover all phases from concept, specifications, cost justification, project management, installation, training, qualification, implementation into manufacturing, and production support.
- Assess/Audit suppliers manufacturing processes and capabilities
- Leads or participates on teams responsible for the procurement and installation of manufacturing equipment.
- Work closely with product development to provide input on DFM/DFA.
- Generate validation/qualification protocols, coordinate the execution of the validation/qualification protocols and write validation/qualification final reports.
- Develop manufacturing procedures, document the procedures and provide training for the procedures.
- Research and develop manufacturing processes.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
Knowledge / Education
- Bachelors of Science in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
Job Experience
- Minimum of 6 years work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience in the medical device industry is required. Specific experience may be required based on departmental needs, for example: Industrial Engineering, PLC Programming, CAD, etc.
- Experience with implementing complex automated equipment.
Skills / Competencies
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate at multiple levels of an organization.
- PC skill, word processing.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to organize and judge priorities.
- Ability to generate and maintain accurate records.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform mechanical and electrical work on machinery.
- Moderate travel domestically and overseas could be for extended periods of time. Overnight and weekend travel will be required. (Approximately 30% travel)
