What is the Omnipod® Insulin Management System?

The Omnipod® System is a tubeless, waterproof1 insulin pump for people with insulin-dependent diabetes.

Its innovative design features two components: the tubeless Pod and the handheld Personal Diabetes Manager. The Omnipod® System also includes access to Insulin Provided Glooko, which allows healthcare providers to access and review data from their patients’ Personal Diabetes Manager to support informed insulin management recommendations.

The Pod

The Pod

A compact, tubeless device that provides up to 72 hours of nonstop insulin delivery.

The Pod can be worn virtually anywhere that insulin would be injected. Its durable, waterproof1 exterior shell houses a built-in 200-unit insulin reservoir, angled infusion set, power supply, and delivery mechanism.

Automatic insertion mechanism starts insulin delivery with the push of a button.

The small, flexible cannula inserts automatically, beginning precise, personalized insulin delivery based on the set and variable rates that users program into the Personal Diabetes Manager.

PDM Front English

The Personal Diabetes Manager

Wireless2 insulin delivery management based on its users’ unique settings.

Unlike traditional insulin pumps with tubing, the Pod can be worn discreetly under clothing with insulin delivery control managed separately on the Personal Diabetes Manager.

Built-in FreeStyle® blood glucose (BG) meter.

Omnipod® System users can use the built-in FreeStyle blood glucose meter to check blood glucose levels as often as needed.

Insulet Provided Glooko

Insulet Provided Glooko

Comprehensive data management software with standardized graphs and reports for more efficient access to and interpretation of diabetes data.

Available to Omnipod® System users at no additional cost, Insulet Provided Glooko allows users to easily upload and view their data in easy-to-read graphs and charts, which can be used to optimize management plans.

Quickly and securely upload user data from over 70 diabetes management devices to one platform – allowing for more time with patients.

The software provides data on blood glucose readings, insulin dosing, and carb data, in addition to information from continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), and fitness trackers.

  1. The Pod has a waterproof IPX8 rating for up to 25 feet for 60 minutes. The Personal Diabetes Manager is not waterproof.
  2. At start-up, the Pod and PDM must be adjacent and touching. During normal operations, the Pod must be within 5 feet of the PDM.
