Why don’t I have insurance coverage for the Omnipod DASH™ System?

As with all other new medications and therapies, insurance coverage is not always available immediately. If you do not have insurance coverage for DASH™, it may be that Insulet doesn’t yet have a contract with your specific insurance provider. The good news is that the Insulet team continues to work hard to secure additional coverage for DASH™ and has already achieved access at some of the top plans in the nation. Insurance coverage for DASH™ will grow over the course of 2019.

What else can I do if the Omnipod DASH™ System is not yet covered by my insurance?

While Insulet is working hard for your DASH™ coverage through our facilitation of your insurance provider's appeals process, you may also take action by advocating and urging for coverage for the DASH™ System with your insurance company. Since you’re the insured member, the insurance company may listen more closely to your voice and your story.

Why is the Omnipod DASH™ System now being covered under the pharmacy channel?

Much like the existing Omnipod® insulin Management System, we have successfully established coverage through both the pharmacy and medical benefit channels for the DASH™ System. We are continuing to work hard to secure additional coverage for DASH™ and we expect insurance coverage for DASH™ will grow over the course of 2019.

Through the pharmacy channel, DASH™ totally removes the up-front costs for the hardware component or PDM (Please note: that there may be an applicable copayment for the Pods).

Second there is typically no 4-year insurance lock-in period which restricts when an upgrade can occur. This means you may be able to switch to the latest Omnipod® innovation as it becomes available.

Should I wait for the Omnipod DASH™ System or go on the existing Omnipod® System today?

We are happy to place an order for DASH™ for you today and once you have coverage and inventory is available, we will proactively contact you and ship you a zero5 cost DASH™ PDM. Please note that there may be an applicable copayment for the Pods. In the meantime, you can check your DASH™ order status in PodderCentral™. Please continue to place orders for your current Omnipod® System through your current supplier.

New customers should get started on the existing Omnipod® System as soon as possible as the same proven benefits of the Pod are available through the existing Omnipod® Insulin Management System.

Are the Omnipod® mobile apps available for Full Market Release?
