AVAILABILITY

When will the Omnipod DASH™ System be available for everyone?

The Omnipod DASH™ System is now available to any insulin requiring patient in the U.S. who has coverage and whose HCP has decided that it is an appropriate course of therapy.

Where do I go to find out if I’m covered for the Omnipod DASH™ System?

You can discover if you’re eligible by visiting www.myomnipod.com/DASHcoverage and completing the online benefits check. This self-service tool allows you to initiate the process of verifying benefits and coverage for DASH™. If you have coverage, we will place your order for DASH™ today and proactively contact you when your DASH™ PDM is ready to ship. If your existing insurance plan does not offer coverage for the Omnipod DASH™ system, we will work with your health care provider to facilitate an appeal to your Insurance company on your behalf. If insurance coverage is not currently available—a cash pay option exists for customers.

Why don’t I have insurance coverage for the Omnipod DASH™ System?

As with all other new medications and therapies, insurance coverage is not always available immediately. If you do not have insurance coverage for DASH™, it may be that Insulet doesn’t yet have a contract with your specific insurance provider. The good news is that the Insulet team continues to work hard to secure additional coverage for DASH™ and has already achieved access at some of the top plans in the nation. Insurance coverage for DASH™ will grow over the course of 2019.

What else can I do if the Omnipod DASH™ System is not yet covered by my insurance?

While Insulet is working hard for your DASH™ coverage through our facilitation of your insurance provider's appeals process, you may also take action by advocating and urging for coverage for the  Omnipod DASH™ System with your insurance company. Since you’re the insured member, the insurance company may listen more closely to your voice and your story.

You may advocate for your insurance plan to allow coverage for the Omnipod DASH™ System by doing the following:

  1. Encouraging your healthcare provider to write a letter on your behalf explaining why the Omnipod DASH™ System is important for your diabetes management
  2. Writing a letter to share why DASH™ is important for you such as the clinical and quality of life benefits it will provide
  3. Calling your insurance company and requesting DASH™ coverage. We are happy to help facilitate getting you in contact with the appropriate person/department at your insurance company

Lastly, There are many resources offered by non-profit organizations that can help you more effectively advocate for the DASH™ System. If you’d like further information about these resources, we’re happy to provide them to you:

Why is the Omnipod DASH™ System now being covered under the pharmacy channel?

Much like the existing Omnipod® insulin Management System, we have successfully established coverage through both the pharmacy and medical benefit channels for the DASH™ System. We are continuing to work hard to secure additional coverage for DASH™ and we expect insurance coverage for DASH™ will grow over the course of 2019.

Through the pharmacy channel, DASH™ totally removes the up-front costs for the hardware component or PDM (Please note: that there may be an applicable copayment for the Pods).

Second there is typically no 4-year insurance lock-in period which restricts when an upgrade can occur. This means you may be able to switch to the latest Omnipod® innovation as it becomes available.

Should I wait for the Omnipod DASH™ System or go on the existing Omnipod® System today?

We are happy to place an order for DASH™ for you today and once you have coverage and inventory is available, we will proactively contact you and ship you a zero5 cost DASH™ PDM. Please note that there may be an applicable copayment for the Pods. In the meantime, you can check your DASH™ order status in PodderCentral™. Please continue to place orders for your current Omnipod® System through your current supplier.

New customers should get started on the existing Omnipod® System as soon as possible as the same proven benefits of the Pod are available through the existing Omnipod® Insulin Management System.

Is the Omnipod DASH™ System available in Canada and Europe?

Not at this time. The Omnipod DASH™ System is only FDA cleared in the United States. The Omnipod® Insulin Management System will continue to be available in Canada and Europe.
